The Light of the World

If someone says they are really in the dark about something, what are they saying?

God is Light                                                     (John 1:4-9)

Jesus is the true Light which enlightens everyone.  When you think of light and darkness, what are some things that come to mind?  Have you ever been in total darkness?  How did you feel?  What other thoughts do you have about darkness and light? 

  Jesus demonstrated for us that God is here to vanquish our darkness and bring us into an eternal state of light.

From the earliest recordings of His interaction with people, we see that Jesus' wisdom amazed and enlightened those who listened to Him. (Luke 2:47)

The One who can speak to the storm raging over the Sea of Galilee and make it stop (Mark 4:39) has told us that no one can snatch us out of His protective hands. (John 10:27-29)

He freely healed the sick, released those held captive by demons, fed thousands miraculously to demonstrate that He cares about our needs and is powerful enough to do something about meeting them.  His tenderness and compassion are evident throughout His ministry here on Earth.  He patiently and lovingly encouraged little children to come to Him.  A woman caught in the act of adultery was not condemned, but rather forgiven.  He was not repulsed by lepers, but touched them and healed them.

He clearly demonstrated that He is Life when He raised Jairus' daughter and later His friend Lazarus from the dead.  Though Roman soldiers crucified Him, He lives today!  He conquered death, arose from the grave, and over 500 people saw Him alive after He had been killed on the cross.

Jesus is the Light!  He shows us that God brings clarity, enlightenment, security, compassion, safety, goodness, health and life forevermore.
